The 566 acre Fort Lyon Correctional
Facility (FLCF) is located northeast of Las Animas. The former VA
Medical Center is now a state prison for offenders with special care
needs, including geriatric inmates and those with physical and developmental
disabilities. The site also includes a national cemetery and the Kit
Carson Chapel that are open for public viewing. |
